HOW TO SUBMIT ENTRIES FOR THE 60TH REUNION PUBLICATION LIST

 

If you have felt it important to publish something, your classmates may enjoy it too! Here’s how to let us know what you’ve done and how to find it.

LIST your published work so that we can just copy and paste your list. We hope to avoid editing and rewriting, so if there’s a typo or other error, chances are it will show up as a typo in the printed list. That’s why we would like you to follow the directions below.

FIRST:  We want your name, as it was at Wellesley, and as it is now. For example, here’s a Wellesley alumna from the class of 1914 who married and wrote under a pseudonym:

Harriet Stratemeyer Adams

SECOND:  List your publications, by the name under which each was published, last name first:

Dixon, Franklin W. The Secret Panel.  Grosset & Dunlap, 1946. 

Keene, Carolyn. The Ringmaster’s Secret. Grosset & Dunlap, 1953.

For subsequent items published under the same name, substitute three hyphens for the author’s name.

Here’s how this would look on our list:

Harriet Stratemeyer Adams

            Dixon, Franklin W. The Secret Panel.  Grosset & Dunlap, 1946. 

            —-.The Mystery of the Aztec Warrior. Grosset & Dunlap, 1964.

            Keene, Carolyn. The Ringmaster’s Secret. Grosset & Dunlap, 1953.

What if your work is not a book or printed article, but was published in some other medium? The most recent version of the Modern Language Association system, MLA 8, covers just about anything. You can simply ask your browser, “How do I cite [a blog, a film script, etc.] in MLA 8?” 

Several websites offer examples. The Modern Language Association’s Interactive Practice Template (mla.org) may be helpful, as well as the EasyBib website (easybib.com). You will also find university websites that offer advice and examples.

Bear in mind that the purpose of this list is to let your classmates know what you’ve done and to give them a means of finding your work. If a different system of citation is preferred for your type of work, it’s OK to use that.

PLEASE do not submit a list of more than 10 items, as there is a limit to what we can handle. If, for example, you wrote a newspaper column that ran weekly for several years, choose up to 9 examples, and instead of the 10th, add a line reading something like “This column ran weekly from January of 2002 through December of 2014.” The choice of works is up to you if you are prolific—your most recent, your favorite, whatever. Just don’t submit more than 10 entries, as we will cut off your list after the 10th.

Your list should be copied into the body of an email, with the subject line of the email reading Publication List entry. This is important because some forms of attachments cannot be opened or re-formatted for our purposes.
